Quartz is composed of loose quartz mixed with resins and pigments, then poured into slabs. The designs and textures found in a quartz slab are placed throughout the mixture, so any edges or honing done will show the pattern throughout, just like with a natural stone. Quartz is a hard and durable surface with a Mohs rating of 7, on par with quartzite.

Quartz is durable, nonporous manufactured stone available in a wide variety of colors and patterns. Quartz has a reputation for being highly scratch- and stain-resistant and even anti-bacterial, making it the ideal choice for:

Shower curbs and thresholds
Custom furniture pieces and tops
Quartz is not a good choice for outdoor use, extremely heated areas like fireplaces, or floors.

We have served the Atlanta area since 1998 with expert, state-of-the-art natural stone fabrication and installation, including quartz. We are certified by Caesarstone and Silestone to fabricate and install quartz. These are the only two quartz manufacturers that certify their fabricators and installers.

Preserving the beauty of your quartz countertops is easier than it is for other stones, but you’ll still want to clean and maintain them properly.
For routine cleaning, use dish soap and a microfiber cloth or sponge. Even though quartz countertops are stain-resistant you will still want to wipe up spills before they dry. For heavier stains you can use a glass cleaner and even a kitchen degreaser.
Do not use abrasive cleaners, scouring pads, or acidic/alkaline cleaning products (think lemon, vinegar, bleach, ammonia) as these can disintegrate the bond between the quartz and the resin.

Quartz can take a lot of heavy use, except with extreme heat. Always use a trivet or pad under hot dishes, crockpots, and other kitchen appliances that generate heat.

Always use a trivet or hot pad between your quartz surface and any heat-generating device including but not limited to crock pots, deep fryers, hot pots and pans, or electric skillets. Sudden or rapid change of temperature or sustained heating, especially near edges and cut outs, may create enough thermal expansion energy to cause your countertop to crack.
Be mindful of not pouring boiling water onto any stone surface.
